Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is a drive-through safari park located on Natural Bridge Caverns Road near San Antonio, Texas. Covering roughly 450 to 500 acres of Texas Hill Country, the ranch has been welcoming visitors since 1984. It offers one of the most authentic African-style safari experiences in the state, allowing guests to see free-roaming wildlife up close from the comfort of their own vehicles.
Home to Hundreds of Animals
The ranch is home to more than 500 animals representing over 40 species from around the world. Visitors can encounter a variety of wildlife including giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and several types of antelope. The animals roam through several sections of the property, each designed to resemble natural habitats. Guests drive along about six miles of roads that wind through open fields and wooded areas, providing multiple opportunities for photography and observation.
Conservation and Education
Since its founding, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch has maintained a strong focus on conservation and wildlife education. The ranch participates in breeding programs that help sustain populations of species under pressure in the wild. Informational displays throughout the property help visitors understand the importance of protecting ecosystems and managing wildlife responsibly. School groups and families often visit for educational field trips, making it both a learning and recreational destination.
Walk-A-Bout and Family Activities
Beyond the drive-through safari, the ranch features a Walk-A-Bout area where guests can leave their vehicles to view smaller animals and visit feeding stations. One of the highlights is the giraffe feeding station, where visitors can hand-feed the giraffes and learn more about their behavior and diet. The Walk-A-Bout also includes a petting barnyard and shaded seating areas that make it ideal for families spending the day outdoors.
A Texas Favorite for Over Four Decades
For more than 40 years, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch has been a beloved destination for Texans and visitors alike. It combines outdoor adventure with education and wildlife appreciation, giving guests a unique way to experience the natural world without leaving the state. The mix of exotic animals, open landscapes, and hands-on activities makes it a standout attraction in Central Texas.
