Up Close with Big Cats at In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue in Wylie, Texas

In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue & Educational Center is a non-profit sanctuary located in Wylie, Texas. Founded in 2000 by Vicky Keahey, the organization is dedicated to rescuing neglected, abused, and unwanted exotic felines. It operates on a 14-acre site near Lake Lavon and provides lifelong care to more than 70 animals, including tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, bobcats, servals, and other wild cats. The center’s mission focuses on rehabilitation and education, ensuring each resident receives proper nutrition, veterinary care, and enrichment to support their physical and mental well-being.

From One Rescue to a Lifelong Mission

The inspiration behind In-Sync Exotics began in the early 1990s when Vicky Keahey helped care for a sick cougar named Tahoe. That rescue experience, followed by several others in the years that followed, highlighted the growing need for a sanctuary dedicated to big cats suffering from neglect or poor living conditions. This passion evolved into a full-time commitment, leading to the establishment of In-Sync Exotics in 2000. Since then, the sanctuary has expanded its facilities and staff, becoming one of the most respected exotic cat rescues in the country.

Commitment to Care and Education

In-Sync Exotics provides its residents with individualized diets, veterinary treatment, and large naturalistic enclosures. The sanctuary does not breed, sell, or trade its animals, emphasizing a lifetime commitment to each feline under its care. It is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and recognized by the American Sanctuary Association for maintaining high welfare standards. Beyond animal care, the organization focuses on community education, helping visitors understand the challenges of private exotic animal ownership and the importance of conservation.

A Meaningful Visitor Experience

The sanctuary welcomes the public during scheduled hours for self-guided and educational tours. Visitors can observe the cats up close while learning about their stories and the broader issues surrounding exotic animal trade and captivity. Special events, volunteer programs, and sponsorship opportunities allow supporters to engage directly with the sanctuary’s mission. Every visit helps fund ongoing animal care and supports the rescue of future big cats in need.

Recognition and Continued Impact

Over the years, In-Sync Exotics has earned local and national recognition for its exceptional work. It was honored as “Outstanding Wildlife Sanctuary of the Year” in 2020 and continues to serve as a trusted advocate for exotic cat welfare. With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, the sanctuary remains a place of healing and hope for big cats that might otherwise have no safe refuge.
